Nocturna Models Princess of Night

I ordered this Mini from Cool Mini or not a few days ago. I couldn't resist such a wonderful sculpt. Today I received it in the mail and was 100% Blown away by the quality of the sculpt. The detail is so fine and well done, I Think If you asked me yesterday if this level of detail was possible at this scale I would have said no. As to scale it is a 30mm, however I have to point out that it is probably true 30mm. Reaper figures claim to be 25mm, the same as the old ral partha sculpts. Well scale creep has made reapers 25mm a fair bit larger than the old ral partha 25mm. If I call modern scales heroic scale (25mm heroic vs just 25mm) then I would say she is probably just 30mm and as such is comparable in size to a 28mm heroic mini such as Warhammer models which most are familiar with.

I should point out that this is a 2 piece sculpt with the top of the cross behind her being a separate part, however I did not get a picture of this. I am intending to try to take my time on this one and give it my absolute best possible work. Throughout I intend to take pictures and share as much as possible step by step here with you all.

one last note, I know most of my followers are likely with me for Flames of war, I will continue with Fow as it is the one game I do play. I just needed a break from the small scale stuff. I made a deal with a buddy of mine and he has painted the last of my soviet troops, I will be getting them based and sharing that here soon as well.

  1. You had better do this one some justice my friend. I look forward to watching your progress on this project. :-)

  2. This is a nice figure! Looking forward to seeing the progress report. I just ordered a Reaper figure not realizing their size. It was a dwarf piper to go with my Red Box dwarves, and it just doesn't compare. My blog has a photo of the difference.

  3. I looked at your dwarves, your right about the size difference. its too bad 25 or 28 or what ever mm scale isn't the same across the board. Nice terrain by the way!
